Yesterday I took a day off at short notice to do one of the more famous climbs in Italy -Blockhaus. In the heart of Maiella National Park, one of the most difficult slopes in south-central Italy, and indeed Europe. Added to the Giro d’Italia in 1967, Blockhaus is a ‘blind ascent’: one slope with three different ways to climb it (we climbed from Lettomanoppello) 2,000 metres over 22 kilometres is never an easy climb, even Eddy Merckx struggled on it. A great day out, extremely hot (31.5⁰C) just what I needed with a charity ride for @lecuredefrance only 19 days away! Sponsor me here: https://ift.tt/2UIhqYA
